The Montblanc Heritage Collection embraces both past and present. It is an admiring vision of the historical Minerva classic wristwatches from the 1940s and 1950s but with a modern twist. Each timepiece incorporates time-honoured horological know-how with vintage aesthetics, yet bold, modern design codes and technologies complement a comprehensive range of movements. These include a new perpetual calendar calibre and a rare mid-range monopusher chronograph.
The new three-, six- and nine-minute chronograph markers borrow from the aesthetics of the chronograph’s markers, recalling the time when chronographs were used to monitor international phone calls in three-minute tariffs. Sfumato straps from the Maison’s Richemont Pelletteria in Florence, Italy, demonstrate a modern variation. With this collection, a new language of style is defined, setting an elegant tone for tomorrow’s style set.
Inspired by Minerva’s vintage aesthetics, the timepieces in this collection include domed dials with two finishes, dots and indexes all combined with the emotive colour pallet of the 1940s and 1950s: salmon, smoked caramel and silvery-white. These features evoke a rich history, and yet a modern elegance is apparent in the fully polished cases displaying curved horns with facets and sapphire crystal glass boxes.
The highlight of this year’s collection is the new Heritage Pulsograph Limited Edition 100. The rare timepiece is inspired by what collectors call ‘doctor’s watches’, which were used by physicians in the past to check a patient’s heart rate. Its addition to the collection allows those who wear this timepiece to relish in the splendour of the past in their own unique, modern way.
